The emergency caused by the coronavirus pandemic has forced the organization of the Galà dei Castelli to postpone the 2020 meeting due to happen on May 25th.

As the largest recurring sports event in Ticino, the organizing committee is working with Swiss Athletics and the Diamond League to find the best date possible to hold the meeting this season under the Bellinzona Castles.

This 10th edition of the Galà dei Castelli is looking to create an event that will help bring everything back to normal – a big celebration for athletics fans and the community. Holding this edition in 2020 would also help boost the local economy after these hard times.

From a sports point of view, holding the meet in 2020 will be a great chance for athletes to both have the possibility to compete again, and to earn some well-deserved and needed money. Just like everybody else, athletes are also forced to stay home, and are therefore not able to pursue the Tokyo Olympics quotas nor to earn what they would have during a full normal season.

For this very reason, the Galà dei Castelli has decided to give its support to the best athletes from Ticino, providing financial help to Ajla del Ponte (2’000 CHF), Ricky Petrucciani, and Mattia Tajana (1’000 CHF each).

While patiently waiting for better days and a new date, the organizing committee would like to invite everyone who is missing track and field in these particular times to visit the renewed website where you will be able to relive the emotions of the last Galà dei Castelli.
